Sorry, sorry! I thought I had turned off anon! It’s @charliechaplin2blr

Oh, hi! We thought you weren’t going to show up anymore! We had many problems with our team during that time and since we liked your idea we ended up asking if anyone could be our English revisor and one showed up yesterday. Anyway, you already helped us by providing us with the idea! Thank you so much for your message and your offer! You’re very kind!

We have good and bad news.

The bad news is, we will go from 3 episodes per week to just one. Our team doesn’t have as much members anymore and keeping up with that rhythm would be impossible. Also, that task had been very draining and sacrificing for all our members, which lead to some of the most active members giving up the project to dedicate more to their own mental health and personal lives. So, from now own, even if it takes much more time to finish the whole telenovela, we will work on a rhythm that doesn’t stress everyone as much. I hope you all can understand that.

The good news is, we did get new members! And we’re very happy to have them, but it’s still not enough. Please, spread this post around and if you’re considering helping us, please do! If you’re a Portuguese speaker and are in doubt, we’re trying to work with less than 20 minutes per person by week and even if you can’t work with sync, we will be just as grateful if you can just write up the translations in a document. The more people we have to share each chapter, we will work faster and have less minutes to translate per week.

We plan to keep posting the episodes whatever happens, but with more hands, more chances to get this project going until the very end without more sacrifices.

Also, as our team had a very drastic change, you will probably notice the difference in our subs. We’re working to keep the quality but since the people behind the work changed, chances are that this will be noticeable. We will keep doing our best with what we can to provide you with weekly updates.

Thank you everyone for your continuous support! If we’re still trying, is because of all of you amazing people who give us such a kind feedback and keep watching the series!

We will also need a gif maker for us soon, but this will be subject for another post. But, if you’re a gif maker and is interested in helping us out, please feel free to contact us.

Yes, if it was a more accurate setting they would use a more historical speech pattern, but since they’re doing a very… alternate reality, this isn’t much important in the context of the series. Other historical based works here do have a different speech pattern though!

Thank you so much! You’re a hero as well!

Actually, just so people can be more relaxed, our show has no history whatsoever, it’s much more a medieval inspired setting and they even use nowadays slangs, so I’d say it’s a pretty easy show to translate in general!

WE DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP! We got a new member but we’re losing another. We barely have enough people to translate. The only way for us to keep posting the subs is if we find new members. Please, even if you can’t help, spread this post to help us out.

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER:

ENGLISH SPEAKERS

We decided to accept someone who is an English native speaker, so, If you have some experience in correcting the English of non native speakers and could be our reviser, please contact us! Previous knowledge of how to synchronize subtitles is not required, but would be good as well.

If you think this is something you might be interested in, send us an ask with the following information:

  • name/blog url
  • weekly availability
  • previous experience translating
  • knowledge of synchronization/srt subs
  • anything else you want to add

PORTUGUESE SPEAKERS

You must have sufficient knowledge of both Portuguese and English and have free time to translate at least half an episode per week. Although previous knowledge of how to synchronize subtitles is not required, you will be required to learn it once you start translating. We’ll guide you through it and it’s fairly easy once you get the hang of it, so don’t worry.

Mostly we are looking for motivated people who would be committed to the project.

If you think this is something you might be interested in, send us an ask with the following information:

  • name/blog url
  • weekly availability
  • previous experience translating
  • knowledge of synchronization/srt subs
  • anything else you want to add

Thank you so much and we hope to bring good news on the next posts!

Hello, dear followers! We need your help, we’re doing some changes to improve our subs and we’d like your opinion to know what’s best!

In DSOR there’s a lot of characters who talk a lot and very fast. However most of the time, what they’re saying include lots of repeated words or long phrases that are just the way the characters express themselves, but in the context might not be that important. So it gives us two options:

1) Leave the long phrase as it is, in an exact translation of the original but making it harder to read fast, like this:

Deus Salve o Rei Subs (12)

2) Break it in smaller and faster sentences, that give the same meaning and are easier to read but in the process changing a bit the original phrase:

Deus Salve o Rei Subs (13)
Deus Salve o Rei Subs (14)
Deus Salve o Rei Subs (15)

Which one do you prefer? We want to make our fansubs better for all of you to watch and your opinion is very important to us! Please reply to this post, send a message or IM telling us which one you prefer.

I don't care either way. I was reading it all very well so far. Personally, I don't like long phrases, it seems kinda messy. I liked how it was done. But you guys are doing something for free, so whatever you prefer is ok! Don't worry. Your job has been amazing and we don't thank you enough!

deussalveoreisubs-blog

Both options are ok for us, so we brought the question to all of you amazing people who watch the show so we know which one is better for you all too. Thank you so much for your input and kind words!
